Seniors

WE'RE ALL YOUNG AT HEART NO MATTER WHAT THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE SAYS! Our seniors meet once a month, on the second Friday, for a potluck lunch, maybe some fun and games ... and a time of prayer and devotion. In June we will be gathering at a farm owned by one of our members. Contact the church office if you need more details. We are not checking ID at the door, so everyone is welcome to join in this time of fellowship with those who have experienced life with all its ups and down. For more information, contact the church office at [email protected]

Blessed on Purpose - What You Can Do

There are many needs in the world. Even our small response, given in love, can make a difference!

You can bless your neighbors in Chilliwack

Through our partnership with other organizations in downtown Chilliwack you can make life a little easier for struggling individuals and families.

Our Lenten Servant Project this year will be to support the work of the Community Angels Food and Hosuing Support Society, an organization dedicated to addressing the challenges of food and housing insecurity among seniors in the Chilliwack area. Specifically, our efforts will be focused on collecting protein drinks such as Ensure or Boost which will be given to vulnerable seniors through the Community Angels program. You may drop off your gifts anytime the church is open. You may also support this project by donating to our Local Relief Fund and we will purchase the beverages on your behalf.

You can bless those who long to hear the Good News

Women

Fellowship is so important in our faith journey as we support and strengthen one another Lutheran Women's Missionary League

The LWML is a mission-based women's outreach organization, affiliated with Lutheran Church - Canada. Our Society meets at 6:00 pm on the second Thursday of the month for a Bible study or guest presentation followed by a brief business meeting.

All ladies and senior youth age girls are encouraged to attend this mission-oriented group.

SUMMER FUN!

In July all ladies and teen girls are invited to the home of one of our members where we will enjoy food and fellowship in God's great outdoors. This is a snack potluck so bring along a small snack to share.

We're also going to have a veggie and flower exchange so if you have a garden, bring along something to share. Don't have a garden? Don't worry .... there will be plenty of home grown goodies to share. This is a wonderful event to invite friends and family to, so they get to know some of the great gals who call St. ...

Volunteer Vacancies

Blessed to Serve

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We have only a small paid staff, relying instead on our many members who serve the Lord by serving our church and our community. From time to time we have vacancies in these important roles. For information about how you can bless others through our ministry please contact the church office at [email protected] or 604-792-9577.

Feeling Techy? ... We could use your tech skills in our media program. We are looking for someone to join the team of Media Shout presenters, operating the system that projects the worship service onto the screen in the sanctuary.

We also need at least one more person to operate our worship streaming system. This involves operating the cameras and the broadcast console during the worship service.

If you would like to learn more about these positions, please contact the church office.

Our History

In 1923, when the population of Chilliwack numbered about 3,000, Rev. V.L. Meyer began work here. Traveling from Vancouver, he brought the Word of God to a little group of Lutherans ... just four people to start. By the end of the year, the number had grown to 20 people and services were conducted in the member's homes. In 1930, Candidate A.H. Haake took over the work in the valley. In addition to Chilliwack, Rev. Haake served Lulu Island, New Westminister, Crescent, Cloverdale, South Sumas, Bradner and Hope. Living in New Westminster, he became the founder of Mt. Calvary Church in that city.
